Kate hilariously upstaged at royal event as adorable toddler ‘photobombs’ duchess – PHOTO
Kate’s visit to the charity on Wednesday saw little Freddie Rusbridge become famous for “photobombing” the Duchess of Cambridge. The royal headed to Peterley Manor Farm in Buckinghamshire to meet families supported by Family Action and its staff.
The Duchess of Cambridge spent her day with children, choosing Christmas trees and creating decorations at the ‘elf workshop’ set up at the farm.
But, while Kate was working on the Christmas decorations, the focus of the attention briefly shifted to three-year-old Freddie, who poked his head into the shot of photographers in attendance, almost blocking the Duchess entirely.
The adorable toddler was photographed sticking his tongue out at the cameras while Kate, unaware of what was going on, kept speaking to a member of the charity’s staff.
During the visit, for which Kate chose to wear a casual outfit with a red down, a green jumper and blue jeans, Kate opened up on her youngest son Prince Louis.
The Duchess revealed the one-year old is going through a clingy phase where he wants to follow his mother around at any time, according to Daily Mail’s royal correspondent Rebecca English.
She wrote on Twitter: “Inside the farm’s Elves Enchanted Forest Kate laughed at one boy who held his hand up to get her attention, saying: ‘Me, me.’
“Kate stroked his cheek and said: ‘You remind me of my little Louis, he keeps saying: ‘Me, me, me and he wants to come everywhere with me.’ Sweet!”
Kate’s visit came one day after she received the patronage of this charity from the Queen, who inherited it from her grandmother Queen Mary in 1953.
The Duchess’ new patronage was announced by Kensington Palace with a lengthy statement.
It read: “The Duchess of Cambridge has today become Royal Patron of Family Action.
“Her Majesty The Queen has passed the patronage to The Duchess having held the role for over 65 years.
“Her Majesty took the patronage over from Queen Mary in 1953.”
This new patronage is in line with Kate’s commitment to work with association strengthening communities and helping families.
The statement continued: “The Duchess of Cambridge has spent much of the last eight years meeting charities and organisations who work every day to make our families and communities stronger.
“There is a powerful correlation between a parent or carer’s wellbeing and their child’s development, which is why organisations such as Family Action that provide support are instrumental to a child’s future.
“This new patronage aligns with Her Royal Highness’ longstanding work on the early years, and the importance of supporting children and families during this seminal period of their lives.”
The charity, founded in 1869, also aligns with the Duchess’ work on her Early Years project, which aims at highlighting the relationship between the first five years of life in an individual and their impact on adulthood.
Speaking of the visit, Kensington Palace said: “This new patronage aligns with Her Royal Highness’ longstanding work on the early years, and the importance of supporting children and families during this seminal period of their lives.”
