Princess Charlotte’s young age caused her mother, Kate, some worry when it came to horse riding, according to royal commentators. The Cambridge children’s activities during the Easter holidays have been reported on, with horse riding coming out as a favourite pastime. Us Weekly’s Royally Us podcast discussed the long-running relationship that the monarchy has had with the sport.

Host Molly Mulshine told listeners: “Obviously we know the Queen loves horses.

“And apparently George has taken riding lessons on a pony that belongs to Zara Tindall.

“And all the kids are really into horses.”

Co-host Christina Garibaldi added: “We got some reporting that Kate was a little hesitant about letting Charlotte start horseback riding.”

She continued: “That’s because she’s a little young.

“But I guess you’ve got to start them young.

“Basically horse riding is in their blood.

“So whether they like it or not, they’re going to get up on a pony.”

Ms Mulshine also revealed that the children have been “mucking out”, or cleaning up, the pens of the horses.

The commentators joked that an Olympic medal could be in their future.

Both Princess Anne and Zara have both medalled in the Games for the UK.

The Princess Royal was the first member of the Royal Family to represent Britain in the 1976 Olympic Games.

She did not win a medal, but it was still a historic event.

The Queen’s daughter did win a gold medal at the European Championships and two silvers in 1975.

Zara went on to win multiple international medals.

In 2012, she won a silver medal at the Summer Olympics, presented to her by her mother.
