Kate has heartwarming, special treat she ‘loves’ to give her children on their birthdays

Princess Charlotte’s upcoming birthday has sparked intrigue over how Kate and William will mark the celebration. The Duchess of Cambridge will treat her only daughter to a homemade cake, as she does for all her children. Royal commentator Angela Mollard spoke about why the royal prefers to do this instead of relying on others.

Ms Mollard told listeners: “She always makes the cake for her children herself.

“She loves cooking for all the family, despite the fact that they’ve got plenty of staff to do that for them.

“She loves making a meal for William.

“I’d love to see a picture of one of her cakes one day.”

Currently the Cambridge family are isolating in their Norfolk home.

Prince Louis was also forced to celebrate turning two under the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.

To mark the occassion, Kensington Palace released a series of pictures of the young royal with his hands painted rainbow colours, and also one where the paint was all over his face.

The rainbow colours also acted as a tribute to NHS frontline workers fighting the pandemic.

The publication of the photos is one of the only ways Kate and William are “comfortable” with sharing information about their children as William and Kate are “incredible protective” of their children’s privacy.

Their only daughter, Princess Charlotte, will celebrate her 5th birthday at Anmer Hall in Norfolk this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge revealed in a special interview with the BBC in mid-April they have been keeping in touch with their parents and relatives via social media, so Charlotte is likely to get her virtual well wishes from Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

A royal insider has claimed Kate and William have arranged a special Zoom party to have Charlotte’s friends and grandparents help her celebrate. And the Queen is also expected to join.

The source said: “The family has arranged a Zoom party for her, so she can speak to family and friends.

“Then, they have put together a full plan that will give her all the fun of a birthday – including cake and games – despite the extraordinary circumstances we are faced with.

“Her great-grandmother will be joining the family call on the big day.

“As far as Charlotte is concerned, the important part is that her whole family are by her side to say happy birthday.

“And you have to realise that she doesn’t know anything different – she’s grown up with tablets and video calls, so she won’t be fazed.”
