Kate fans defend Duchess over birthday message for Meghan Markle – ‘Seriously?!’

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, turned 38 on August 4 and members of the Royal Family wished her a happy birthday by sharing pictures and sweet messages. Among them were Prince William and Kate, who wrote their message on their Instagram account, kensingtonroyal. They wrote: “Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duchess of Sussex today!”

The message came with the emoji of a red balloon and a picture taken on Christmas Day, depicting the Cambridges, Meghan, Prince Harry and Prince Charles smiling outside of church.

While many appreciated the post, some seemed far from happy with the choice made by Kate and William and attacked the picture they selected.

Many accused the Duchess of Cambridge of shifting the attention from Meghan.

One person wrote: “Wait…and why doesn’t she have a picture of her alone?

“It’s ‘HER’ birthday right?”

Another commented: “Why a picture of the whole Royal Family?!

“It’s not about Kate or William or Charles! It’s about Meghan! Ridiculous!”

But many took the side of the Duchess of Cambridge.

JUST IN: Kate and Prince William caught up in weather hell

One responded to the first comment saying: “Seriously?! @sussexroyal has NEVER made a post about another royal’s birthday.

“Considering that, it was extremely kind of @kensingtonroyal to even make one at all for her.

“@sussexroyal couldn’t be bothered for anyone else, so stop complaining.”

Another argued Kate and William may have chosen that snap to show Meghan is part of the family.

They wrote: “Maybe they wanted a picture of them all together because they are a family.”

And a third wrote a lengthy message, explaining why they believed a picture of Meghan by herself on the Cambridges’ account would have looked “weird”.

They wrote: “Be happy for what they did, she didn’t deserve a post at all.

“And speaking of the nature of photo, this is the normal way to post a picture of somebody (parent, siblings, friends, colleagues) with you or your family or group of friends when you make good wishes on your own social media.

“It would be super wired to post a photo of a person alone in your own account.

“Meghan is not the Queen Mother to deserve a chair alone photo in any royal account… get real for once!!”

A fourth royal fan said: “I actually try to have a positive outlook.

“It takes a lot less energy to look for the good than to knit pick things apart.

“Give if a try and maybe you’ll be more fulfilled as well.”

The people attacking Kate seemed to be hinting to the royal rift that allegedly hit the Royal Family.

Various sources spoke of tensions between Meghan and Kate in 2018 and early 2019, with one claiming the Duchess of Cambridge broke down in tears during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting and another said Kate confronted Meghan over the way she had treated her staff.

However, the first claim was dismissed by Kensington Palace and other sources said the rift was actually between Prince Harry and Prince William.

Kate and Meghan went together to Wimbledon’s women’s singles final in July and the Cambridges were among the handful of people attending the christening of Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor.
