Joseph Melhado, 30, of the village of Anmer, admitted stealing these items from a home in Wiggenhall St Germans, near King’s Lynn, during a hearing in June. During that same hearing, he also admitted a second burglary charge on September 5 last year.
During the June hearing, Melhado’s barrister Nicholas Bleaney asked for a pre-sentence report into the case, which he described as “very unusual”, as reported by Eastern Daily Press.
On August 2, Melhado was sentenced to two years imprisonment on each count, to run concurrently.
The man was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £149.
The sentence was by Judge Anthony Bate at King’s Lynn Crown Court.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are often in residence at Anmer Hall, their Georgian country house in the Anmer village.
This residence was built in the 18th century, purchased by Queen Victoria and later integrated into the Sandringham Estate.
Among its most recent tenants, there have been the Duke and Duchess of Kent and Prince Charles’ friend Hugh van Cutsem.
The Queen gave this home as a present to Kate and Prince William following their nuptials in 2011.
The two-storey mansion underwent a renovation, costing approximately £1.5million, between 2013 and 2014.
During the renovation works, Kate and William added a conservatory, rerouted the main driveway and redesigned the interior.
Anmer Hall served as the Cambridges’ main residence between 2015 and 2017, when Prince William worked as an air ambulance pilot for the nearby East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Today, as the family is mainly based at Kensington Palace in London, Anmer Hall serves as their country residence and is often the location of the family’s photographs.
The Cambridges normally retire at Anmer Hall during Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis’ school holidays and on some weekends.
Kate, William and their children spent the first national lockdown in Norfolk and part of the third one, until they had to return to London in March to allow their children to attend their local schools.
Royal fans caught glimpses of the royals’ country residence on a few occasions in recent months.
In April 2020, the Cambridge family stepped outside of Anmer Hall’s doorstep to join the country in the Clap for our Carers initiative.
Kate, William and their children were framed in the photograph by an old wooden door surrounded by a red brick wall and two wall lights.
To mark Christmas 2020, the Cambridges shared a card depicting their family during their prolonged stay in Norfolk.
Dressed in warm jumpers, Kate, William and their children sat on hay while surrounded by dozens of log piles in the garden of their home.
More of the exterior of the building was spotted by royal fans in April, when Kate and Prince William released a brief video to mark their 10th wedding anniversary.
The couple were filmed playing with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis on a nearby beach.
The family members were also spotted hugging one another and roasting marshmallows on a campfire.
Among the details of the Anmer property spotted there were a Wendy house, a wooden seesaw and a large lawn surrounded by plants.
Royal fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the insight of the Cambrdiges’ Norfolk residence were disappointed, as the Duke and Duchess conducted most of their work from home and video engagement in the same room.
Their background during most royal duties carried out remotely at the height of the lockdowns featured a small painting, a light green wall and a large white door.
However, Kate changed the scenes in May 2020, when she launched her photography contest Hold Still.
For the major announcement, she stood next to a window partially covered by scalloped cream curtains.
