Kate and William will ‘try and reconcile with Harry’

Prince Harry speaks German in videolink for Invictus Games event

Kate, Princess of Wales, and her husband Prince William will “try and reconcile” with Prince Harry but “must feel hurt” by the actions of the younger royal, a royal historian has told Express.co.uk.

Harry is set to join the Coronation celebrations next month, with the 38-year-old among the guests at Westminster Abbey when his father King Charles III is officially crowned.

Though the duration of his visit remains unknown, Harry will likely have a chance to see his family and friends – many of whom he hasn’t encountered since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral last year.

Since Charles took charge, Harry has seen his relationship with the Royal Family plummet after a Netflix documentary and autobiography spilling the beans on his life as a royal.

And Andrew Lownie, author of the 2021 book Traitor King: The Scandalous Exile of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, says frostiness between Harry and his relatives could be thawed when he attends the Coronation.

He cited William and Kate as offering Harry the chance for redemption, with both targeted in Spare, the tell-all memoir Harry released in January.

In its pages, Harry attacked William, claiming his older brother and he had a physical fight.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Lownie said: “Kate and William must feel hurt but for the greater good they will try and reconcile.

“I suspect these efforts will remain private.”

Since it emerged Harry would be joining his family in Britain for the May 6 Coronation – with his wife Meghan Markle opting to remain in the US – the Duke of Sussex’s role in proceedings has been debated.

Every detail of his appearance has been analysed – right down to where Harry will sit.

According to ex-royal butler Paul Burrell, who worked closed with Harry’s mother Princess Diana, it is unclear whether the Duke of Sussex would actually have any time at all to restore his relationship with the Firm.

Mr Burrell told GB News: “There is no chance of a reconciliation anytime soon, I’m afraid – I think he will get a very icy reception from the Windsors.”

He added: “[Harry] is coming to put his foot in the door and he is coming because his father wants him to be there.

“His father will be delighted that both his sons will be there to witness this incredible day in his life. But Harry is not going to hang around.”

Billions are expected to tune into the Coronation to watch the moment a new monarch is crowned for the first time in 70 years.

Street parties are expected to be enjoyed throughout the Commonwealth, with a Bank Holiday declared to mark the occasion.
