Kate and William to swerve important Sussex event ‘after they moved away from public life’
The Cambridges will not appear at this year’s Invictus Games, a sporting event created by Prince Harry. The 2020 edition of the games will be held in the Hague, Holland, in May. According to The Sun, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be working “flat out” in order to bring the games up to speed.
But the couple’s in-laws won’t be present at the event.
A royal insider said: “Harry and Meghan will be at the front of the centre of the Games.
“Meghan knows how important it is to Harry and will be at his side.”
They added: ”William had not been expected to attend even before the news broke about Harry and Meghan’s decision to step away from public life.
“So it is highly unlikely that he and Kate will be a part of the event in any way.
“But it isn’t a snub.
“The entire Royal Family remain hugely supportive and very proud of Harry’s work on Invictus and think it is a wonderful event.”
The Royal family has previously supported Prince Harry’s endeavour.

The games are a chance for those from the military to take part in different events against one another.
Previously, Prince Charles has attended, alongside his wife Camilla and Prince William in 2014.
Kate’s siblings James and Pippa Middleton have both also watched events including the wheelchair rugby.
They haven’t, however, been at subsequent events.

The insider concluded: “It’s very much in Harry’s vision although he has regularly turned to his father for advice and support over the years.
“It is unlikely to be any different this time round but Harry will be front and centre.”
It comes after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were accused of “ostracising themselves from the family rather than building bridges” with their fellow royals after they published a bombshell new statement on their website.
Their statement comes amid heightened tensions between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Queen, who last week banned the couple from using the term ‘royal’ in any upcoming commercial ventures.
