Kate and William leave for ‘glamorous’ secret island with royal kids –’Keeping it low key’
Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, are said to have already departed for their summer holiday with George, Charlotte, and Louis as they return to a favourite overseas destination. Prince George, who turns six today, will have the luxury of celebrating on an exclusive Caribbean island. Mustique is a small private island in the Caribbean archipelago nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The location is “glamorous” and will not cost the taxpayer, as the royals are “guests of the people who own the island”, claimed royal commentator Neil Sean.
Mr Sean told Nine News Australia: “Well they’re onto a glamorous location of course, Mustique, which is very nice.
“There were reports that the Wales’ are going to stay in England, but you cant really have that much privacy unless you stay in one of your many houses of course.
“But they want to do something a little bit different. What they do try and do is actually have this traditional family holiday every year, and I think that works quite well for them as a family.
“It’s very expensive and all of this, but they are guests of the people who own the island. So it’s not like it’s going to cost the taxpayer anything.
“They’ve gone there before, it’s something that they enjoy doing. They will have a birthday party, what they do though, they do this with all their children, they just keep it low key.
“There’s no big event you know, there’s a birthday cake, and apparently Kate and George help make the cake together. I think that is sweet.”
On the location of Mustique, the commentator said: “Shall we say it’s an exotic island, we’re not allowed to say exactly where it is because of the security.”
There is a strict no fly zone of the Mustique meaning George will be able to celebrate his birthday without any unwanted media attention.
It will also give the young family the opportunity to celebrate George’s birthday without needing to worry about the strict traditions of royal life.
The website for the destination states: “There are no rules on Mustique, no protocols or expectations. Guests can simply do as they wish.”
Prince George can choose to spend his birthday enjoying a large range of activities on the island – from playing with his siblings in the luxury pool, to riding hoses along the beach or even snorkelling with turtles.
Next week is not the first time the third in line to the throne will have celebrated his birthday on Mustique, with Kate and William taking their children to the private island at the same time last year too.

The Caribbean location has become a firm holiday favourite with William and Kate over the years and they have travelled to the island on multiple occasions.
As well as taking their three children to relax there, the Duke and Duchess have also holidayed with Carole and Michael Middleton and siblings Pippa and James at Mustique.
A royal source confirmed to The Sun the island was popular with Kate and William due to being “incredibly private and incredibly discreet”.
The source added: “It’s about as close as they can come to without going to total wilderness as they did on their honeymoon when they went to an island in the middle of nowhere.
“To go to a place with two bars and a few other people, and not feel totally isolated Mustique is perfect.”
The trip to the Caribbean marks the start of the Cambridge’s summer break, with William and Kate Middleton taking time out between now and September.
The pair are due to only attend one royal engagement in that time.
