The couple welcomed their first child, named Mary, on October 12. Thomas, who went to school with Prince William, is Charlotte’s godfather.

Lucy is assistant headteacher at Thomas’s Clapham and also teaches at Thomas’s Battersea, where Prince George and Charlotte go to school.

The couple tied the knot at Chelsea Old Church in London in July.

Thomas and Lucy were due to marry in April, with Princess Charlotte expected to be a bridesmaid.

But they were forced to postpone their big day due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They married in a low-key ceremony three months later on July 24.

In April 2019, it was reported that Thomas and Lucy were dating. 

An insider told the Daily Mail: “They are very happy and have been going out for some months now.

“It’s a serious relationship.”

William and Prince Harry have a close friendship with the van Straubenzees, after meeting when they attended Ludgrove School.

Thomas’s younger brother Charlie van Straubenzee is thought to be godfather to Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie.

Charlie and his wife Daisy Jenks welcomed a daughter, called Clover, in February.

The couple married in August 2018.

Harry is thought to have been best man, while the Duchess of Sussex was also a guest.

Charlie and Thomas are believed to have both been ushers at Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2019.

William and Harry are also patrons of a memorial fund dedicated to Thomas and Charlie’s brother Henry, who died in a car accident in 2002.
