Royal journalist Emily Andrews revealed she travelled with Kate and Prince William as they journeyed to Pakistan in 2019 and noted the way they courted the press. Ms Andrews remembered the Cambridges invited the reporters to the front of the plane and spoke with everyone to let them know how thankful and happy they were to see them attending. The royal commentator remarked it was “skilful diplomacy” to get them on side so their tour could be a PR success.
Speaking on Channel 5’s documentary Kate: Our Queen in Waiting, Ms Andrews remembered her interaction with the royals during their trip.
She told the programme: “I travelled with Kate and William on the RAF Voyager from the UK to Pakistan.
“William and Kate had us all forward to the front of the plane where they were to chat to us, ‘we’re so glad you’re here, thanks for coming to Pakistan with us’.
“It was a very a skilful piece of diplomacy by William and Kate because you do want the press to be on side.
“Because then they’re going to write nice things about you and that’s exactly what happened.”
Reporters at the time wrote glowing reports about the trip and said it was a huge success for the couple who involved themselves in the culture and conversed in local languages.
According to YouGov’s latest poll, Prince William ranks second on the list of the most popular royal with 66 percent popularity.
Kate trails slightly behind and has a score of 65 percent.
The Queen tops the list with 76 percent after respondents were asked their verdicts on Royal Family members in the last quarter of 2021.
The monarch is also due to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee this year and released a statement on Sunday thanking her support network.
It read: “As we mark this anniversary, it gives me pleasure to renew to you the pledge I gave in 1947 that my life will always be devoted to your service.

“As I look ahead with a sense of hope and optimism to the year of my Platinum Jubilee, I am reminded of how much we can be thankful for.
“These last seven decades have seen extraordinary progress socially, technologically and culturally that have benefitted us all and I am confident that the future will offer similar opportunities to us and especially to the younger generations in the United Kingdom and throughout the Commonwealth.
“I am fortunate to have had the steadfast and loving support of my family.
“I was blessed that in Prince Philip I had a partner willing to carry out the role of consort and unselfishly make the sacrifices that go with it. It is a role I saw my own mother perform during my father’s reign.”
The Queen also announced plans for Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, to become Queen Consort when Prince Charles ascends the throne.
She added: “I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection that you continue to give me.

“And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me.
“And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
The announcement caused divisions among some royal fans who do not believe Camilla should become a Queen Consort.
The move would mean she would be called “Queen Camilla” when Prince Charles takes the throne.
However, a rolling YouGov poll suggests only 14 percent of respondents want her to be Queen Consort and 44 percent want her to be a Princess Consort.
