Prince William and Kate visited Newham ambulance station in east London earlier today. During this engagement, the second face-to-face joint visit they have carried out this year, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spoke to emergency responders about how they have been coping mentally during the pandemic.  

The Cambridges heard about the support provided by staff at the station, which offers drop-in sessions and wellbeing spaces.

Emergency responders can also count on wider initiatives provided by the London Ambulance Service including their fleet of Wellbeing Tea Trucks. 

During their visit, Kate and Prince William took the time to speak via video call with a few members of the family of paramedic Jay Khan. 

Her family, who lives in Bangladesh, hasn’t been able to see the paramedic throughout the past 12 months due to the coronavirus pandemic.  

During the call, Kate expressed hope the family could be reunited soon. 

After a few minutes, the paramedic ends the call, telling her relatives to “let [William and Kate] go”, leaving the royals and her colleagues in fits of laughter. 

Both royals wore face coverings this morning during a key royal visit.

Kate donned a Massimo Dutti coat and carried a Metier bag, while the Duke of Cambridge wore a dark coat above a blue jumper and a baby blue shirt and dark trousers.
