Just Stop Oil demo descends into chaos as police arrest slow-walk protesters
A march by Just Stop Oil eco-protesters on Parliament today descended into chaos as police made arrests when “conditions” on the procession were “not complied with”.
Demonstrators slow-walked across Westminster Bridge this morning causing rush-hour traffic congestion for commuters as Just Stop Oil tweeted triumphantly that 28 of their members were taking part in the protest.
The distruptive environmental organisation wrote: “Just Stop Oil Supporters March to Parliament. Today, 28 are in the road, demanding this government stop licensing new oil and gas projects, which they know will contribute to the deaths of millions.
“This is a crime against humanity. We will not be complicit.”
But it seems the action this morning was met with a swift response from the police.
On Twitter the Met Police tweeted: “Conditions put in by officers on procession #ParliamentSquare have not been complied with and arrests have been made. The road is now clear. Updates to follow.
The force added: “8 Just Stop Oil protesters have been arrested #ParliamentSquare after conditions to move out of the road were not complied with.”
