Jo Swinson’s £50billion Lib Dem Remain promise immediately found to be ‘farcical’
The Lib Dems have pledged to invest £50billion into public services in what they termed as a ‘Remain bonus’. The party stated that by stopping Brexit, the UK would have an extra £10billion to spend in the UK over the course of a five-year period.
Supporting their claim, the Lib Dems insisted that the economy would grow faster by remaining in the EU than under Brexit.
However, speaking to Express.co.uk, Brexit Party MEP and Parliamentary Party Candidate (PPC), Rupert Lowe warned that the figure was “farcical”.
Speaking on the claim made by the Lib Dems, Mr Lowe said: “I totally disagree with that and we’ve had enough of figures like it.
“It’s completely farcical and it’s based on erroneous facts.”
Moreover, the Brexit Party MEP also criticised the Lib Dems fro “trying to unwind the democratic vote of the people”.
The Lib Dems have forecasted that the country will be 1.9 percent larger in 2024-25 if Brexit is stopped.
In sum, the party believes that the £50billion figure is representative of the total of current receipts over that period.
Speaking on the pledge, party leader, Jo Swinson stated: “The Liberal Democrats will stop Brexit and then use the £50 billion Remain bonus to invest in our public services.

“Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to stop Brexit, build a brighter future and invest the £50 billion Remain bonus in our vital public services.”
Mr Lowe’s repost to the Lib Dems’ claim, comes as Nigel Farage begins his nationwide tour.
The Brexit Party leader announced his party’s full list of potential MP candidates on Monday as he announced his intent to attack Labour seats.
Although Mr Farage has announced plans to put forward a strong election, he has insisted that the offer of a ‘Leave Alliance’ with the Tories is still on the table.

Mr Farage revealed that the offer has been extended until November 14 when nominations close and deposits must be paid in order to run in the election.
The Brexit Party and the Tories exchanged blows on Monday as Leader of the House of Commons, Jacob Rees-Mogg urged Mr Farage to “retire” from politics.
Although Mr Rees-Mogg also praised Mr Farage for his political career, he ultimately insisted that the public must vote for the Tory party in order to “get Brexit done”.
Hitting back at the Tories, Mr Farage branded senior Brexiteers as “arrogant”.
He also called the Prime Minister’s deal a “sell-out” as he continued his attack.
Following the rejection of his offer of an electoral pact, Mr Farage demanded that the Prime Minister drop his deal and form a “patriotic alliance”.
Mr Farage also attacked the Labour Party during his speech and announced that the five million Labour Leave had been betrayed.
He concluded: “I will be out in those Labour constituencies.
“I’ll be in the East Midlands, I’ll be in south Wales.
“I’ll be in the north-east. I want the country to know the sheer extent of Labour betrayal.”
