Jo Cox's widower to remarry seven years after Labour MP's murder

The widower of murdered Labour MP Jo Cox has announced his engagement, it has been reported.

Brendan Cox and Anna Ryder are said to be ‘happy together’ and looking forward to celebrating with loved ones.

The were introduced through a mutual friend two years ago, and their relationship has been flourishing ever since.

‘We are both very much looking forward to celebrating with our families,’ the 44-year-old said.

The pair are planning a woodland ceremony in Herefordshire, the Sun reported.

A source told the newspaper Brendan’s son and daughter he had with Jo are very much supportive of their dad’s relationship.

‘They are very happy together. It is lovely news for the family,’ the source added.

‘Brendan’s a fantastic dad and his focus has been very much on the children.

‘It was with their encouragement that Brendan and Anna wanted to take this step. They are very excited for the wedding.’

News of their engagement comes just days after the seventh anniversary of Jo’s death.

The politician was shot and stabbed on June 16, 2016, in a street in Birstall, part of her Batley and Spen constituency in West Yorkshire.

The mum-of-two was killed by far-right extremist Thomas Mair days before the Brexit referendum on June 23, 2016.

Ever since her murder, Brendan has dedicated his life to fighting the extremism that lead to the tragic incident.

He co-founded the Together Coalition, to promote closer community cohesion.
