'Jealous ex-boyfriend shoots dead mother-of-seven at Chick-fil-A'

A mother-of-seven was allegedly shot to death by her jealous ex-boyfriend while at a Chick-fil-A drive-thru.

Cassie Lashae Davis, 39, was in her car outside the fast food restaurant on Shorter Avenue in Rome, Georgia, around 7am on Wednesday when Anthony Green, 56, began firing at her, police said.

Green then turned the gun on himself, cops said.

Davis’ family said Green was a jealous ex-boyfriend.

‘He just wouldn’t leave her alone,’ Davis’ mother Kathie Walters told Fox 5. ‘That’s one thing she told me yesterday, that he was following her around.’

Walters added: ‘We lost a very sweet lady. She was a good mother of seven.’

Davis left behind children aged five to 18.

Police responded to a report of a vehicular crash because Davis’ car reportedly continued to move forward down an embankment after she was shot.

‘Prior to arrival, officers received more information that the incident was a shooting rather than an accident,’ said police, according to the Independent.

Davis had three gunshot wounds from a revolver, according to a coroner.

‘The incident is not related to Chick-fil-A but rather occurred on the property of the restaurant,’ said Rome Assistant Police Chief Debbie Burnet.

Chick-fil-A General Manager Greg Major said that the restaurant was cooperating in a police investigation and that no other guests or workers were injured.

‘But we mourn with the community,’ stated Major. ‘We have closed the restaurant for the day to repair and care for team members. Thank you for your patience during this time; we plan to reopen tomorrow.’

Davis’ aunt, Effie Wilson, said, ‘I know she’s in heaven, but that doesn’t help my heart and nobody else’s’.

‘It seems like a dream. I just want to wake up,’ Wilson told Fox 5.

‘Nobody thinks anymore, they’re killing children, they’re killing adults.’
