It’s crackers, Gromit! Pair mimic cheese-mad stars

Two-year-old St Bernard Louie is a regular sight in his sidecar next to petrolhead pensioner Alan Valkeith.

The pair usually use Alan’s Honda Goldwing for trips to a local cafe but have been as far afield as the seaside at Hunstanton, 40 miles from their home in March, Cambs.

Louie, who, like Gromit, has got his own helmet and goggles, is strapped in with a harness. Alan, 70, said: “He loves going in the sidecar and lies down in it when we are going fast. It’s lovely being able to take him out with me, it’s nice to have the company and he’s always very well behaved.”

Alan adopted 11st Louie from the St Bernard Trust last year after he was found abandoned in Liverpool.

The proud owner said: “He gets a lot of attention when we go out. People wave or take his photo.”
