Richard Tice, a British businessman and politician who has been the Leader of Reform UK since March sat down with GB News to criticise Liz Truss for being given the role of Brexit Minister. The new appointment of Liz Truss as chief negotiator with the EU came after Lord Frost’s resignation from the position last week. Lord Front gave his reasoning for resignation as a lack of support for a recent implementation of policies by the government that he disagreed with. Mr Tice expressed his lack of faith in Lis Truss, sharing his thoughts on how post-Brexit plans would go with Ms Truss now in charge of negotiations as Ms Truss’ views on the highly debated Article 16 differ from those of the previous Minister Lord Frost.
Mr Tice said: “The appointment of Liz Truss as the lead negotiator is in my view a disaster.
“She’s the Foreign Secretary, she may be a great Foreign Secretary but that covers the whole world, she’s a very busy person.
“She’s also Minister for Women and Equalities so she’s got a huge amount on her plate, and this requires total focus.
“My concern is that the EU will see this as a weaker appointment someone who’s not prepared to walk away.

Mr Tice added: “And we know that if you’re not prepared to walk away as Theresa May wasn’t, you end up being completely legged over by the EU.
“Whereas actually there were real concerns in the EU that Lord Frost was prepared to trigger Article 16, So I think this is a weak appointment.
“There’s clearly some politics in it, Boris is sort of, you know he’s trying to sort of suggest, I suspect, is he trying to put Liz Truss into a really difficult place.
“Where she might get something wrong and fail, and therefore that sort of props him up a bit, I’m not quite sure.

Mr Tice added: “But in terms of the negotiations on this critical issue about the Northern Ireland protocol, I think it’s a weak appointment.
“I think the EU will see it as weak, they won’t think that she’s prepared to trigger article 16 and I think that’s very bad.”
Mr Frost gave a statement explaining the reason for his resignation, Lord Frost said: “I left the government, as I think is well known, because I couldn’t support certain policies, most recently on COVID restrictions and plan B.
“If you’re a minister, you have to support collective responsibility, you have to support decisions of the government, and I couldn’t so that’s why I had to leave.
When asked about the Prime Minister Lord Frost said: “absolutely confident this country has a great future under Boris Johnson’s leadership if we can get the policies right, I’m absolutely confident he’s the right man to take the country forward.
“I don’t support coercive policies on COVID. The prime minister’s got some very difficult decisions to take and I’m sure he’ll be thinking very hard on them.”
