Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit royal duties last year for a new life in America and since then the Duke of Sussex has laid bare his rift with his father. An insider claimed the Prince of Wales has been affected “very deeply” by Megxit, with Camilla said to be a big support.

The source told the Telegraph: “It is not an exaggeration to say she has been his rock throughout this crisis.

“She has been the one who has kept him on track.

“It was really hard for him.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ended royal duties in March 2020.

Harry and Meghan are now living in California with their two-year-old son Archie and daughter Lili, who was born in May.

The couple made a series of explosive claims about the Royal Family in their Oprah Winfrey interview in March.

Harry said he felt “let down” by heir to the throne Charles.

The Duke said: “There’s a lot to work through there.

“I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar.

“He knows what pain feels like, and Archie’s his grandson.

“At the same time I will always love him, but there’s a lot of hurt that’s happened.

“I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship, but they only know what they know.”

The royals made clear they did not agree with all of the Sussexes’ claims in their tell-all interview.

A statement released by Buckingham Palace said Harry and Meghan would “always be much loved family members” but added that “recollections may vary”.

Harry went on to make more controversial comments about his family in the weeks after his and Meghan’s TV interview.

He appeared to suggest Charles, the Queen and the late Prince Philip had all failed as parents during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast in May.

And Harry is set to release a bombshell memoir about his life next year as the monarch celebrates her Platinum Jubilee.
