Is THIS the reason Kate Middleton did not meet The Queen for five years after dating?

Duchess Kate met Prince William at St Andrew’s in 2001 but they did not start dating until 2003. It was only in 2008 that the Queen met Kate for the first time when Peter Phillips, William’s cousin, married Autumn Kelly. The Sun claim the Queen was not interested in meeting short-term love interests.

After all, three of the Queen’s four children have been divorced.

When the now-married couple met Kate had a boyfriend and William had a reputation as a bit of a ladies’ man.

The couple briefly split up in 2007, a year before Kate met the reigning monarch.

William has spoken about the temporary split: “We were both very young, we were both defining ourselves as such and being different characters.

“It was very much trying to find out way and we were growing up, it was just a bit of space – things worked out for the better.”

Kate would get married to William in 2011.

With the royal being second in line to the throne, she will likely become Queen Consort when William ascends the throne.

There has not been a Queen Consort since February 1952, when the Queen Mother ceased to hold the position upon the death of her husband, King George VI.

The Consort role refers to the spouse of the reigning monarch.

It has been held by Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, ever since George’s death.

Should Prince Charles be crowned King Charles III before William ascends the throne, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will become Queen Consort.

However if and when William becomes King William V, Kate will become Queen Consort of Britain.
