‘Irritated’ Meghan and Harry fume over Emmys award snub for Netflix documentary

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly feeling “irritated” over their latest major award snub for their Netflix docuseries.

According to royal expert and editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, the couple are feeling unhappy with the news that their two-part series failed to appear in the Emmy Awards nomination shortlist.

The list, which was released earlier this week, featured shows that aired between June 2022 and May 2023.

The first three episodes of Harry and Meghan’s docuseries were released on December 8, 2022, meaning it would have been eligible for the award.

The release came two years after the couple signed their multi-million-pound deal with the popular streaming service.

Despite their upset over the Emmy Awards snub, the couple have been nominated at the Hollywood Critics Awards in the Best Streaming Non-Fiction category.

Seward exclusively told the Mirror: “Meghan and Harry will concentrate in this and make it a positive.

“However irritated they might be not to be in the Emmy nominations.”

Speaking of their feelings, Seward told the Mirror: “Of course, [Harry and Meghan] will not show it.”

The couple’s series did break a record for Netflix’s biggest documentary debut, holding a total of 81.6 million hours watched in the first four days of its release.

However, according to Seward, this “was obviously not good enough for an Emmy nomination.”

The latest snub comes just a few weeks after the couple’s multi-million-pound deal with Spotify came to an end.

The end of this deal, which was signed around the same time as the one with Netflix, came after the couple and company mutually agreed to part ways.

Last month, both parties released a joint statement confirming the news.

The statement read: “Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”

The series referred to in the statement is Meghan’s podcast series, Archetypes, which released a dozen-episodes.

The statement ended speculation over whether Meghan would return for a second series.
