Insulate Britain member Liam Norton attempted to defend the eco group’s protests on motorways in the UK. GB News host Dan Wootton and Tory MP Craig Mackinlay took issue with this and argued the group was not helping solve the climate change issue. The pair mocked the group and insisted the group should head to China if they were serious about stopping climate change.

Mr Mackinlay added that if Britain went back to the stone age, other heavy carbon polluter countries would continue their output anyway.

Mr Wootton said: “This Tory Government is doing more than virtually any other Government in the Western world to achieve net zero.

“Why don’t you educate Liam Norton about that?”

Mr Mackinlay admitted he did have concerns about the Government’s plans but praised them for their dedication to climate change.

He said: “I do have my concerns about how fast we are doing these things, whether they are achievable, technologically possible and whether the public will actually come along with us when they realise the cost involved.

“I am not a Conservative to make people colder and poorer.

“To answer Liam, he really shouldn’t be demonstrating here.

“Out of many Western Governments or global Governments, we are actually doing more than any other.

Insulate Britain slammed by Brennan over M25 protests

“We have reduced our carbon footprint faster than any other.

“The reality is, with Britain emitting just one percent of global CO2 if we were to go back to the stone age tomorrow, which I assume Liam would like, I don’t think India, China, Indonesia or others would be taking too much notice.

“They would be emitting at the same rate that they have been.

“I think Dan’s suggestion that we have a whip around and get you on a plane to Beijing is a very good one.”

During the group’s latest protest stopping traffic on the M25, the public confronted them.

One furious driver said: “Why the hell do you think this is the right thing to do?

“I know what you’re fighting, I completely agree, this is a really, really good idea, but this is not the way to do it.

“You’re causing more pollution with all these cars sitting here just doing f*** all.

“You’re making people hate you. Go and protest London, go down to Downing Street.”
