Insulate Britain protester issues warning over ‘crop failure’

The woman made the bizarre claims as she demonstrated alongside other activists near the M25 in Dartford, Kent, this morning. Speaking to Good Morning Britain, the protester said Insulate Britain is actually helping the police as a result.

The group had declared the M25 a site on nonviolent civll resistance, reports Kent Live.

But, during another tense standoff, the protester said: “The climate crisis will cause crop failure. That will mean we have stabbings and murders, and the police will be highly occupied.

“At the moment, I’m doing the police a favour by waving the flag and saying ‘a climate crisis is on the way’ and I’m acting while we have got food in our bellies.”

Scenes threatened to boil over in Dartford when one seething driver was seen shouting at the activists and police officers, as traffic ground to a halt.

Insulate Britain also caused mayhem on the A40 in Acton, west London, today, disrupting workers heading into the capital during rush hour.

In total, 32 people were arrested at protests at two different locations in Dartford alone today, Kent Police confirmed.

A statement from Insulate Britain said: “Insulate Britain has blocked part of the A40 in West London and a roundabout in Dartford this morning after declaring the M25 a site of nonviolent civil resistance yesterday.

“We are demanding that the government gets on with the job of insulating Britain’s homes, starting with the homes of the poorest people in the country.”

The organisation has been urging the Government to insulate all homes in a bid to combat the climate emergency and to save lives.

But one member of the group, Liam Norton, stormed off the set of Good Morning Britain after a grilling by Richard Madeley last month.

He was accused of being “patronising” in an explosive confrontation.
