LBC caller Chris from Richmond took no prisoners in his assessment of Insulate Britain, telling Mr Norton that the new campaigning organisation is responsible for deaths after targeting congested motorways in Britain. Activists blocked roads to urge the Government to insulate all UK homes to cut carbon emissions in a bid to install a “legally-binding national plan” for low energy and low carbon retrofits in all homes by 2030. The caller reprimanded Mr Norton for his campaign’s modus operandi after blockading several motorways, including the busy M25.
Chris then listed the example of people being unable to visit family members in a critical state in hospital because of the disruption caused by protesters walking on motorways.
The caller launched a scathing attack on Insulate Britain, saying: “How would you feel if it was your mother, your father, child, sister, family relatives stuck on the M25 not being able to get to hospital or that person was potentially dying because of your protests?
“You are potentially stopping that and there has been at least one example of people being desperate, desperate to go and see their mother in hospital.
“I find it disgusting that you even think it’s acceptable to block people going to get motorway emergency services.

“People are gonna die on route because of your stupidity. Do you not understand that? It’s really not difficult to understand.
“If it was your mother sitting in the ambulance dying how would you feel? Tell me! You wouldn’t [feel terrible] because you have not been in that situation and it has not impacted you personally.
“People are waiting hours for ambulances in this country. Do you not understand that?”
r Liam Norton acknowledged that blocking major roads and the subsequent delayed arrivals at hospitals could have fatal repercussions for ill and dying people.

But he refused to shoulder all the blame, reminding the fuming caller that there were incidents of ambulances having to wait for hours outside hospitals because they were unable to get in.
Mr Norton said: “We have had an example with the ambulances being stuck outside the hospital for six hours unable to get in and where is the outrage at the Government for that?
“There’s more outrage in Insulate Britain to be quite honest with you.”
Countless members of Insulate Britain have been arrested, convicted, and jailed after blocking major junctions across the country.

Police were instructed to intervene and make the arrests after imposing Public Order Act conditions on the protest.
The notorious climate activist group has also been banned from carrying out their actions anywhere in England’s strategic road network.
The campaign, which rose to fame only recently, has been slammed for their unconventional strategy to try to sell themselves, selfishly bringing roads to a standstill. And not for what they try to achieve itself.
As stated on their website, the group’s aim is to “save lives and prevent economic and social collapse”, pointing out that each year thousands of families across Britain are faced with the dilemma of having to choose between heating and eating, cold and hungry children.
“Insulating the homes of Britain will save lives and provide warm homes while pound for pound making the most effective contribution to reducing carbon and providing meaningful jobs.”
But with activists reportedly not being daunted by the prospect of jail, there is no end in sight just yet.
