Inside William and Kate’s ‘secret’ nighttime visit to exclusive £1.5m auction
Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales have paid a very discreet evening visit to the salerooms of auctioneers Dreweatts.
The “secret” visit occurred last week in Berkshire, not far from the couple’s family home in Windsor.
Due to being two of the most high-profile individuals in the world, the couple had to make sure that the visit was as discreet as possible, with no word from Kensington Palace.
The couple moved to Windsor one year ago, with them now residing in four-bedroom Adelaide Cottage with their three children.
According to a devotee of the antiques trade, the couple appeared “very, very interested” during their visit.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, they added: “Everyone was all of a twitter to see them.
“It was the beginning of the very big champagne reception that auctioneers always have before a serious date.”
Beginning on Wednesday, the three-day auction consisted of the extraordinary collection amassed by Robert Kime.
Items available to attendees range from Mughal carpets to Delft vases, with all expected to bring in around £1.5 million.

The items all pay tribute to Kime – who is known for both his understated style as an interior decorator and a gimlet-eyed antiques dealer.
Another admirer of Kime suggested that the couple were likely there to buy something for either Kate’s parents or her siblings.
They said: “Perhaps not the Ushak medallion carpet for £50,000, or even the George II longcase clock for £4,000 but the 15 Bronze Age axes for £2,000. What else would you give a mother-in-law?”
Both Drewatts and Kensington Palace have not made any comments regarding the royal couple’s secret visit.

Not one to shy away from secret visits, royal author Tina Brown previously revealed that Kate enjoys early morning visits to art museums and galleries.
According to Ms Brown’s book ‘The Palace Papers’, the royal takes the trips to “nourish her inner life” – as well as to do something without being recognised.
Although the trick typically works, the mother-of-three was once spotted out-and-about at a David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy by a surprised royal fan.
The royal, who is known for her love of art, reportedly told the fan: “I miss my history of art. It’s what I do to get my fix.”
