Inside Meghan Markle’s LUXURIOUS birthing ward complete with £14,000 four poster cot

Despite rumours of a home birth, Meghan was reportedly taken to Portland hospital by a security officer Sunday night. According to Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English: “Meghan was taken to hospital by a security team leader under cloak of secrecy, with some senior royals even unaware.” She also said Meghan remained there overnight with Prince Harry at her side before giving birth at 5:26am.

Royal reporter Emily Andrews confirmed on Twitter that Meghan had her child at Portland Hospital.

She tweeted: “We were led to believe bt palace aides that baby Sussex was born at Frogmore Cottage, but in fact he arrived at private London hospital the Portland. All other details still the same! Can’t wait to see a picture o him on Wednesday with his proud parents!”

The luxurious birth suite is thought to cost £20,000 and included fine dining, 26 private rooms, a nursery, lounge and en-suite areas and 24-hour room service.”

The cheapest birthing package costs £15,000 and can be as expensive as £500,000.

There are also £2,000 a night VIP suites. Epidurals cost £1,000 with inductions costing upwards of £600.

A Caesarean section with a consultant known for “doing a good scar” can cost around £20,000.

After new babies arrive Portland offer a luxury celebration meal with afternoon tea, oysters, foie gras and champagne which is delivered on silver platters.

The hospital also has a nursery with 50 full-time midwives. the new mums can check in their babies for the night at the nursery and catch up on sleep.

The newborns sleep in a £3,500 Moses basket decorated with lace and hand-cut glass crystals.

There is also a four-poster Little Duchess cot, costing approximately £14,000.

The CEO of Portland Janene Madden said: “It’s like having a holiday. After two or three days you leave fit and well.

You only have to pick up Hello! magazine to see the patients we have here in the hospital.”

A goodie bag is also provided to mums when they check out including luxury toys, champagne and a complimentary photo shoot.

Portland has also delivered Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s first child, Princess Beatrice.
