Police are warning the public to avoid two convicts who disappeared last week and are now believed to be on the run. Gary Foy, 35, and Christopher Pike, 39, absconded on two separate days, but may be together and heading towards Liverpool.

Sussex Police said that last Tuesday (September 6) Mr Foy had left his workplace, near the prison, at around 5.15pm.

He was supposed to return after the end of his shift, by 10.30pm – but he never did.

Mr Foy was serving the fourth of a ten-year sentence for various offences including aggravated burglary and grievous bodily harm.

Then on Thursday (September 8), Mr Pike was found to have left HMP Ford at around 9.30am.

Detectives believe Mr Pike travelled to London by train and may continue on the rail network to the north east.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “From extensive enquiries already completed, it is believed that the pair are together.”

The force advised members of the public not to approach the two men if seen, and to dial 999 immediately, quoting reference number 1434.
