The TikTok clip posted by @keepingupwiththekokals shows Brody the German shepherd having just placed his ball at the oblivious baby’s feet. Brody gazes impatiently at the ball and his young friend, as if urging him to get a move on.
When his grown-up owner intervenes to explain that the two-month-old isn’t quite up to playing fetch yet, the pup isn’t pleased.
“Brody, we have been over this,” his owner says, suggesting that this isn’t the first time Brody has attempted to get the baby to play with him.
The German shepherd continues to stare longingly at the ball, giving his owner a helpless look when she explains, “He’s too young!”
“Sorry bud,” the video’s caption reads, “two months old is still too young to throw your toy”. Judging by his persistence, it doesn’t look as though Brody is willing to give up training the baby in the art of fetch any time soon.
The adorable clip has over six million views on TikTok, with lots of users leaving comments that suggested what might have been on Brody’s mind in the video.
One person wrote: “I don’t want excuses mom. I want results.”
Another commented: “At two months I was fetching, he needs to hurry up!”
And a third user joked: “Mom, it’s broken, please fix the baby, WE have already went over this!”
Fans have urged the owner to post an updated video once the baby is old enough to be able to play fetch with his canine companion.
Brody isn’t the only dog who has found his attempts to make a new friend squandered lately. This golden retriever went one step further by trying to get a robot vacuum cleaner to play with her.
The hilarious clip posted on TikTok by @aubreytebos shows one-year-old Remmie bounding playfully around the vacuum, dropping down into a play bow in the hope that its robot friend will show him some love.
