‘I nearly died after spending £7k on boob job and tummy tuck in Turkey’
A mum has spoken out about her traumatising ordeal after spending £6,795 for breast implant replacements, a tummy tuck and liposuction last year, which led her to wake up in extreme pain after the surgery and resulted in an infection.
Danielle Hunt, from Manchester, visited a clinic in Istanbul and initially reached out to the Turkish surgeon over WhatsApp from the UK.
Once she had connected with the surgeon, the 35-year-old claims she was asked by a receptionist for photos, which she promptly sent over and the procedures were agreed upon.
After arriving in Turkey and visiting the clinic for a pre-consultation, Danielle’s first worry came after her blood results were mixed up with another woman called Danielle who had booked the same procedures, the MEN reports.

Before going under the knife, Danielle claims she was presented with four 10-page long consultation forms that she needed to sign within five minutes or she would lose her surgery slot and the mother “signed them without reading” as she “panicked”.
The mum then asked surgeons to let her know when she’d be put to sleep, but this was reportedly not done. The next thing she knew, Danielle woke up in extreme agony.
Speaking about the terrifying ordeal, she said: “I was asking for pain relief before it was due because I was in that much pain. They discharged me the next day and I got back to the hotel with only paracetamol as pain relief.
“I rang the clinic and told them I was in dire pain. I was crying asking them if I could go back, I didn’t mind having to pay.”
When Danielle returned to the UK, it took her eight weeks to walk properly again, but her breast implants were still causing discomfort.

However, the procedures had taken a turn for the worse as she was told by a doctor at Royal Bolton Hospital that the bruising she had was the “worst he’d seen” in his career.
An oozing green puss would also constantly come out of Danielle’s wounds after becoming infected.
On New Year’s Eve, Danielle contracted sepsis and had to be rushed for emergency surgery and had her breast implants removed. She said: “I contacted three different clinics and all three refused point blank to treat me because of how the original surgery had been done.”
Throughout this time, Danielle was worried for her seven-year-old autistic and non-verbal daughter who she was unable to look after.

Danielle continued: “That had an effect on her because she likes routine. I found it really hard because of the pain I was in. She’s quite strong, so if she pushed me, it would have been another hospital visit because I was in that much of a weak state. I felt like I was failing as a mother.”
Not only did the procedures have a physical affect on Danielle, but three months after the surgeries she was diagnosed with PTSD. She eventually found a surgeon who performed reconstruction surgery privately, which cost a further £6,500.
Now out of the other side, the mum is raising awareness of the botched surgeries and warning others to consider the risks before going under the knife. Danielle said: “Going over to Turkey for surgery is not worth risking your own life. My little girl was nearly left without a mum. Turkey surgery is cheap but you cannot put a price on your life.”
