A man reassured his fiancée he had gotten a vasectomy – but his cover was blown when she then got pregnant. 

The man, 37, already has two kids from a past relationship, and his new partner had no interest in adding to that number. 

However, she can’t take the Pill, he said, but he wasn’t willing to use condoms.

Therefore, as a self-professed “pathological liar”, he decided to pretend to have gotten a vasectomy.

This rather backfired when she announced another child was on the way, the man told the Sun’s Dear Deidre.

The 37-year-old explained he had picked up his habit of lying from his mother. 

He said: “I’m ashamed to say, I’ve lied all of my life.”

Labelling his mother a “pathological liar” who would tell his father they needed food, and spend the money on booze.

He added that she was usually too hungover to help him get ready for school, so he would lie by pretending to be sick for weeks on end.

He said that even though his previous marriage had collapsed, he still saw his two sons three times a week.

The man then met his 31-year-old girlfriend through work. 

He said: “She’s an account manager and she’s gorgeous. We moved in together last year. 

“She’s 31 and going places career-wise so she doesn’t want kids but she loves my two.”

However, she can’t take the pill – leading the lying lover to tell her he had had a vasectomy to avoid having to wear condoms.

He insisted he was “careful” and would “feign tiredness or make an excuse” when he thought she was likely to be fertile.

But things rapidly went wrong when he got home to find her “sitting in the kitchen in tears” with “a positive pregnancy test in her hands.”

He immediately lied to her again, and claimed his vasectomy must not have worked.

Asking the Agony Aunt for advice on how to stop the pregnancy going ahead, she was uncompromising in her response.

She responded: “Be honest with her right now and apologise wholeheartedly.”

Deidre blasted his actions as “cruel and heartless” and said the future of the pregnancy was up to his partner. 

She added: “You had a rough childhood but lying needn’t be a way of life. Try being honest with friends and family and my guess is, they will still love you,” and suggested he seek therapy.
