Husband keeps £250k Lottery win secret from his wife for two days – but for a sweet reason

A husband kept his £250,000 Health Lottery jackpot prize a secret for two days so he could surprise his wife on her day off.

Winner Tim Carson, from Chelmsford in Essex, landed the huge prize in The Health Lottery’s monthly Mega Raffle draw. But when the 49-year-old realised he had won, instead of rushing to tell his other half Alison he kept quiet.

He wanted to make a big reveal and announce a plan to buy their dream home with the winnings as a present for her standing by him after he was forced to retire as a police officer through ill-health.

Delighted Tim said: “We always said that we would buy a house if we won money with the lottery. So this is my present to Alison as she has kept us both going. I am eternally grateful for her support since I retired.

“Our dog Harley was the only one who knew about the money! A quarter of a million pounds? This money will change our lives forever and I am so grateful to The Health Lottery.”

Alison burst into tears after Tim broke the incredible news. She recalled: “I can’t believe Tim managed to keep this a secret for two days. It’s truly the best news ever. I’m so excited!”

The good news for Health Lottery players in 2020 is that there are even more ways to win after the introduction of two new free £100,000 prize draws taking place every Wednesday and Saturday.

Now when you buy a ticket for the main £25,000 Health Lottery Draw on a Wednesday or Saturday, your numbers will also be entered into a free prize draw to win £100,000 on those days which comes straight after the main draw. In addition, every £1 spend gives players automatic entry into a monthly £250,000 Mega Draw.

So that means for each £1 ticket you buy on Wednesday or Saturday, you get entered into THREE draws with a combined jackpot up for grabs of £375,000 in tax free cash!

The Health Lottery operates as 12 local society lotteries representing different areas of Great Britain. Regions take turns hosting draws to raise money for their local area, meaning that everyone gets an equal share of the pot to put towards good causes.

Since The Health Lottery began in 2011, there have been a staggering 12 million winners, picking up more than £150million in prize money. And more than £112MILLION has been raised for all sorts of great causes across Great Britain – supporting more than 3,000 deserving projects.

Health Lottery West Midlands will benefit from all draws in the month ending February 29 2020.
