Hunt for driver who tried 'snatching girl' after repeatedly driving past her
Police have released an image of a man they are trying to track down after he tried to ‘snatch’ a girl from the street after repeatedly driving past her.
Cops have released the digitally created image as part of an appeal for information, with the help of the victim and passers-by who saw the kidnap attempt.
The alleged crime happened in Farnborough, Hampshire between 3.30 and 3.45pm on Friday 9 September, according to cops.
The driver reportedly tried to snatch the teenage girl as she walked down Alexandra Road.
Police are now appealing for information and witnesses.
A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘It was reported that a vehicle, which has been described as a 2008 silver Ford Focus, had been seen to drive past the teenager on multiple occasions during a 10-minute period.
‘A man then exited the vehicle and made an attempt to grab the girl’s arm and drag her towards the car.
‘The girl managed to break-free and flee from the man, before she was seen to enter another vehicle and was driven away from the scene.’
They added that the man was described as white, aged in his late 20s to early 30s and around 5ft 10 with light brown hair.
He was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and grey jogging bottoms and cops are asking anyone who recognises him to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
Those who wish to give information anonymously can call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
