The Biffa waste plant on Gilbey Road industrial estate in Grimbsy caught fire overnight on Saturday. Videos show a large amount of smoke pumped out by the blaze.

Just after midnight, Humberside Fire and Rescue said: “CONTROL – We are currently dealing with a large fire on Gilbey Road, Grimsby. 

There is a large amount of smoke in the area, local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed. #redwatchcontrol #greenwatch”

At 6:27am, they added: “Fire crews are still dealing with a large fire, please avoid the area if possible.”
