Local residents have taken to social media to report the blaze, sharing images of the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, but images appear to show emergency services responding.

Reportedly, there are over 30 firefighters battling the blaze.

The fire is located at the former Fleming Poultry factory on the Ballymena Road, Ballymoney, the emergency services have said.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.30 pm on Monday, November 22.

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) were joined by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) at the scene.

NI Road Policing and Safety tweeted an update at 6.03 pm, notifying motorists that there may be some disruption to their journey.

The tweet says: “Motorists are advised to avoid the Ballymena Road area of Ballymoney due to a large fire.

“Please seek alternative routes for your journey.

“Additionally, anyone living nearby is asked to keep their windows and doors closed.”

At 6.16pm a statement was also released by NIFRS, who echoed the instructions for nearby residents to close their windows and doors.

The statement said: “NIFRS are currently attending an incident at Fleming Poultry, Ballymena Road, Ballymoney.

“We would ask that residents in the area including the Garryduff Road to stay indoors and close all windows.

“We are utilising resources from a number of areas to deal with the incident.”
