Huddersfield stabbing: Man in his forties found near pub is latest knife crime victim
A murder investigation has been launched after the man was found unresponsive near the Highgate pub in the early hours of this morning. Roads have been closed in the area as forensic police scour the scene in New Hey Road, in the Oakes area of Huddersfield. Locals said they saw pools of blood near the scene.
Ashley Day, landlord of the Highgate pub told the Mirror: “The police came banging on my door at 3am saying there had been a stabbing in the pub.
“But it wasn’t here, it was further down the road.”
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “A murder enquiry has been launched after police were called at 2:21am this morning (26 March) to reports of a male being stabbed on New Hey Road in Huddersfield.
“Emergency services attended and the man, in his 40s, was found unresponsive.
“He was taken to hospital but despite medical treatment died as a result of his injuries.
“A large police cordon remains in place this morning in the New Hey Road area whilst police continue with their enquiries.”
Police tape was today seen blocking an alleyway in the area, with evidence markers placed nearby.
