How Meghan and Harry will survive media storm unlike Diana and Charles – Paul Burrell

The butler who became Princess Diana’s personal assistant has said The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are more likely to handle the pressures of being a member of the Royal Family than Harry’s parents because they “have love”. Prince Charles and Diana divorced in 1996 after an unhappy marriage together. But Mr Burrell told Reuters: “They (Charles and Diana) didn’t have what Harry and Meghan have.

“They didn’t have love.”

Diana and Charles tied the knot in a fairytale wedding in 1981.

They were said to be “very, very close to each other” up until Diana’s pregnancy with Harry.

But after he was born, their relationship went down the drain.

Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton wrote in his book Diana: Her True Story, that Diana recalled the first thing Charlesd said to her when Harry was born was: “Oh God, it’s a boy”.

But Charles insisted that he was just “joking”.

Diana had deliberately kept it a secret from her husband because he’d always “wanted a girl” and she knew that he would be disappointed.

The Princess realised “something inside me closed off” following his comments.

Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry have recently spoken about their own struggles as members of the Royal Family.

In their ITV documentary Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, the royal couple spoke candidly about the media.

Meghan also admitted she was “existing, not living”.

“And especially as a woman, it’s a lot.

“So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed it’s, well…”

She added: “We are taking it one day at a time.”

Prince Harry also appeared to confirm there has been tensions with his brother Prince William.

He said during the documentary: “Part of this role, part of this job and this family being under the pressure it is under, inevitably stuff happens.

“But look, we are brothers, we will always be brothers. We are certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and, as I know, he will always be there for me.”

He added: “We don’t see as much as we used to because we are so busy but I love him dearly and the majority of stuff is created out of nothing.

“As brothers, you have good days, you have bad days.’

Mr Burrell was also asked about the speculation that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could move out of the UK.

He said: “I hope we don’t lose Harry and Meghan because they are a tremendous asset to the royal family, and to Britain.”
