Hottest day of the year predicted tomorrow with temperatures hitting 35C

People in the UK are set to sizzle tomorrow, with Friday predicted to be the hottest day of the year.

Temperatures are expected to hit 35C in some parts of the country, making it hotter than Ibiza (33C), Lisbon (30C) and Berlin (25C).

However, the Met Office has warned the good weather will be short-lived, with storms, clouds and showers set to move across some parts of the country on Friday afternoon, as well as on Saturday and Sunday.

Met Office forecaster Alex Partridge said almost all areas of the country will bask in sunshine tomorrow – although Cornwall and Northern Ireland are likely to miss out with clouds and highs of only 22C.

Alex told Metro.co.uk: It probably will be the hottest day of the year tomorrow. The hottest day of the year so far was 33.4C on June 25th, but tomorrow we’re very likely to see 34C.

‘In fact, there’s a pretty good chance we’ll see 35C just to the north of the London area.

‘Most places are looking really hot. We’re going to see the high 20s, getting into low 30s, as far north as Yorkshire.

‘The UV levels are going to be very high for the UK, around seven or eight, so you definitely want to watch the suncream as you will burn quite quickly.’

Brits have been advised to enjoy Friday’s high temperatures while they can though, with the rest of the weekend not nearly as sunny.

Heavy thunderstorms are likely to roll into some parts of south-east England at around 2pm on Friday.

The rest of the weekend will be mainly dry, although some rain is predicted in north and west England, as well as Northern Ireland.

The cooler weather is expected to continue into next week, with more wind and rain predicted.

July has felt unseasonably cool to many – but Met Office forecasters say temperatures have only been down roughly by a degree or so for this time of year.
