Horse dies after being hit by taxi as driver rushed to hospital
A horse has died and a taxi driver has suffered life-threatening injuries after a car hit the beast on an A road in Hertfordshire.
The taxi was travelling westbound on the A602 in Little Wymondley, near Stevenage, at about 4.10am on Friday (August 18), according to Hertfordshire Constabulary.
It reportedly crashed into the horse which had escaped from a field nearby.

A passenger in the taxi was rushed to hospital with serious, but non-lifechanging, injuries and the horse was put down at the scene.
The road was closed in both directions as the emergency services dealt with the incident.
Sgt Dan Newton from the force’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.”
