The lorry completely destroyed the bay window of the property in Fleckney, Leicestershire, after careering off the road at around 8.30am today. Miraculously, no one was injured in the accident but several roads were shut for hours.
Pictures show a large section of the wall removed as workmen make the house safe.
Leicester Road, which runs through the village, and the adjacent A6 were both busy as a result of the crash.
Queues reached the Saddington area in the south and Newton Harcourt in the north, Leicestershire Live says.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “This incident relates to a lorry driving into the front of a house in Leicester Road, Fleckney, just before 8.30am this morning (Monday 14 February).
“Significant damage caused but no injuries reported.
“Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with the incident and local road closures are in place.”
Leicester Area Traffic Control retweeted the police’s original comment saying that the road closure “could be in place for some time.”
They wrote: “#Fleckney travel warning – closure could be in place for sometime. The advice is to avoid the area if possible”
Fleckney, which is popular with young families, is around nine miles south of Leicester city centre.
It grew up as a farming community but now largely acts as a commuter settlement to both Leicester and Rugby, which is approximately 30 minutes away.
