This is the epic moment a pizza delivery driver in the US fully lived up to the motto that not all heroes wear capes.

Tyler Morrell was going about his usual day in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania when a police chase suddenly began to unfold in front of his eyes.

The dramatic incident was all caught on a doorbell camera.

Remarkable footage shows the 29-year-old approaching a woman’s door carrying a pizza box, but before he has a chance to hand over the food, his attention is diverted by the sound of a car hitting a nearby utility pole.

He can be heard saying: ‘Oh s***,’ as two police cars in pursuit are then seen speeding down the road after the getaway vehicle. 

The woman panics and screeches: ‘Oh my god, that’s a high speed chase.’ 

Meanwhile, Tyler calmly walks to the end of the path to take a closer look at what’s happening.

After the cars come to a halt in the middle of the road, a suspect gets out of the driver’s side and sprints away. 

But he doesn’t get far. 

As he attempts to run past, Tyler takes a few small steps back before quickly lunging forward again.

He casually swipes his leg out in front of the suspect and sends him flying to the ground, before officers step in and make an arrest.

Even though his valiant efforts were commended by police, that’s perhaps not the most impressive thing about his quick-thinking takedown. 

His employers Cocco’s Pizza were quick to point out that Tyler didn’t drop a single crumb of pizza when tripping the suspect over. 

They posted on Facebook: ‘Special shoutout to our delivery driver Tyler, who assisted the Brookhaven police today, and STILL delivered the food unharmed!!’

Brookhaven Police also saw the funny side of the incident and shared their appreciation for Tyler’s intervention, writing on Facebook: ‘Thank you sir for the assist!!! 

‘If you’re interested in a job we are always looking for good people. Cocco’s Pizza Aston – you have great employees!’

Despite his fine work, Tyler was quick to play down the courageous decision to help and admitted he ‘didn’t really think about doing anything other than stepping in’.

He told Fox 29: ‘I was raised to step in if you see something that’s not right, so I just wanted to do my part.’

When asked about how he kept the pizza intact, he said: ‘I did as much as I could to prevent the cheese from sliding. I’m pretty sure it was unharmed and enjoyed afterwards.’

Police later confirmed two teenagers, aged 17 and 19, were driving a stolen car. 

They were both charged with receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding police, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, resisting arrest and related traffic offenses. 

Elsewhere in the US, two teenage brothers have been arrested in connection with a horrifying mass shooting at a 16th birthday party in Alabama, which left four dead and 32 injured.
