Last week, West Yorkshire Police released the image of Jonathan Cahill, 37, in a bid to find him as he is wanted on prison recall. Cahill was released from prison last September after serving part of a sentence for burglary. Police said he breached the terms of his release and has been recalled to prison.

But Cahill’s mugshot sparked an outpour of admiration from more than 7,000 women hoping to catch him before the police did, Hull Live reported.

Now, West Yorkshire Police have broken the hearts of his admirers after revealing Cahill had been caught.

A spokesman for the force said: “An appeal was previously circulated in relation to Jonathan Cahill, 37, who was wanted on recall to prison.

“He has now been arrested and is in custody.”

However, many of his admirers were not willing to give up the chase so easily.

Lena Cuniffe said: “The offer to keep him under house arrest if the prison is full still stands.”

Kaz Taylor offered her a hand, replying: “I’ll be round for coffee to help keep an eye on him.”

Many of Cahill’s admirers compared him to American fugitive Jeremy Meeks who was labelled the “world’s hottest felon” in 2014 and received a modelling contract on his release.

Sarah Tosney wrote: “Yorkshire’s very own Jeremy Meeks.

“His mugshot earned him right bragging rights!”

Helen Marie said: “Leave it with me, I’ll find him.”

While Katie Mae added: “Ooft talk about a fit felon.”

On the other hand, others were not impressed and said they could not see the attraction.

Victoria Banks said: “Aim higher ladies, no wonder half of you have terrible relationships and can’t figure out what’s gone wrong.”
