Diane Abbott told the BBC’s Today Programme that the Royal Family has not learned anything during the 25 years that have passed since Princess Diana left the monarchy. The former Shadow Home Secretary added that the monarchy must do seriously reflect on the issues raised by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Ms Abbott said: “There has got to be a very serious reflection.

“They need to look at some of the people that work at Buckingham Palace.

“They also need to reflect on, have they learned anything over the last 25 years since what happened to Princess Diana?

“It does not look as if they have.”
