Harry’s Coronation appearance will ‘play well’ in US, says expert

Prince William should ‘build bridges’ with Harry says Jobson

Prince Harry’s Coronation attendance could be a boon for the Duke by showing his American audience he’s still relevant, claims a royal expert.

After months of speculation, Buckingham Palace announced that Harry would attend King Charles’s Coronation on May 6 without his wife Meghan Markle.

Royal commentator Rupert Bell spoke of the “compromises” between Prince Harry and King Charles over the ceremony.

He added: “They’re drip-feeding us that the King and Harry have been having telephone conversations about how to manage it and what we’re led to believe is that the King is comfortable that Meghan’s not coming over with the children.”

The royal expert claimed the Duke’s appearance would be positive for Harry who has seen his popularity plummet in the US since the release of his tell-all memoir Spare.

Speaking to TalkTV, Bell said: “Compromises have been reached I think would be the conclusion about [it]. At least Harry is turning up, he can put on a front working for his family.

“That may play well with his American audience because it seems that he’s still got some relevance to the Royal Family.”

He added that although Meghan, 41, and Harry, 38, wanted their children to be a part of the service, it would have been difficult to find them a role because of their age.

Following the release of his memoir Spare in January this year, there was increased speculation over whether Harry’s relationship with his father and brother could be mended.

It has been reported that although Harry spoke to his father he has yet to have a conversation with his brother William.

The Duke previously said he would like to reconcile with them both.

William and Harry were last seen in public together for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September.
