Prince Harry and Prince William could be “brought back together” by Prince Philip’s death, a close friend of the Duke of Sussex has said. The former Special Forces soldier spoke to Australia’s The Today Show about the Duke of Sussex’s arrival back into the UK for his grandfather’s funeral. He was asked whether there would be a reconciliation with the Duke of Cambridge after the publicly known tensions between them.

Mr Stott told viewers: “Weddings and funerals always bring families together.

“I think there’s an opportunity now that he’s that side of the pond.

“They can probably sit at a table and, at least, start the dialogue anyway.

“It’s going to take some time, no doubt.”

Host Karl Stefanovic laughed that family events either “bring people together or force them further apart”.

Mr Stott joked: “There’s always a fight at a wedding and a funeral.”

Mr Stefanovic went on to ask what kind of reception Harry might get now that he is back home.

He asked if the Duke was “worried what the public might think”.

Mr Stott said: “I don’t think he’s worried what the public might think.

“I think the public will always love Harry.

“Obviously he just wants to be there and show his support.”

The veteran continued: “The fact that he’s gotten over as soon as he could means a lot.

“Any sort of delay then yes, the public would start getting a bit antsy.”

Harry is currently isolating in Nottingham Cottage after landing in the UK on Sunday afternoon.

He will have to quarantine for five days before being administered another coronavirus test.

A negative result will clear him to attend the funeral on Saturday April 17, as per national guidelines.
