Harry warned relations with Firm ‘will never be the same as apology not enough’

Prince Harry ‘always wanted out of the royal family’ says Kelly

Prince Harry has been warned his relationship with the rest of the Royal Family may “never be the same” as it now may be too late for an apology, according to an expert.

Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals in 2020 and moved to Montecito in California, however this year has seen many twists and turns in their dealings with the Firm. In January relations dropped to a new low with the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare, which attacked several senior royals and led to Harry and Meghan being evicted from Frogmore Cottage, their home in the UK.

In spite of this Harry still attended King Charles’s Coronation in May, although Meghan stayed away, but the pair were noticeably not invited to the King’s low-key 75th birthday celebrations in November. However a birthday phone call between the Duke of Sussex and his father seemed to indicate a thawing in the frostiness, with some even speculated they may soon spend Christmas together, but the release of Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame has once again caused conflict in the family.

The book has dragged up the controversy of March 2021, when Harry and Meghan told Oprah Winfrey that certain royals had discussed what colour Prince Archie’s skin might be before he was born.

Despite the Sussexes taking care not to name those involved, and the names being omitted from English language copies of Endgame, the names were published in the Dutch version.

It is understood that Harry, Meghan and Charles made plans to talk again soon, with the possibility of the couple and their young children being invited to the UK at some point in the future, The Sun has reported.

But PR strategist Laura Perkes told The Mirror that the relationship between the King and his youngest son “may never be the same, and that’s something he [Harry] needs to live with.”

She explained: “As the instigator of all the turmoil that has resulted in him and Meghan being ostracised by the family, it’s not as easy as saying sorry and hoping to brush it all under the carpet.

“Old wounds have been reopened, new wounds have appeared and many people have been hurt, either directly or in the crossfire. He made the decision to share his truth, but his truth isn’t always the absolute truth. Many people feel betrayed by him and that’s not easily forgivable.”

Ms Perkes concluded: “Time is a great healer, so it may be that he needs to let the dust settle and focus on other aspects of his life.

“Over time, reconciliation may happen, once all parties involved are ready to do so, but the relationship will never be the same again, and that’s something he needs to live with.”

Buckingham Palace have not responded to the Endgame controversy, while sources close to Meghan have claimed she had nothing to do with the leak of the names.
