Harry urged to ‘swallow his pride’ and meet Charles and William next month

Prince Harry has been urged to “swallow his pride” and reunite with King Charles and Prince William in the UK next month.

The Duke of Sussex will travel to London to attend the WellChild Awards on September 7, one day before the first anniversary of the late Queen’s death.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, royal expert Marlene Koenig said: “I think this would be a good opportunity for Harry to swallow his pride and see his father privately.

“It might not be a successful meeting, but I think it is important for the King to see his younger son because he’s made it clear [that] he loves Harry.”

At present, it remains unclear whether either Harry or the King have plans to meet, although tensions still appear heightened.

Ms Koenig said: “Seriously, this would be a good time to visit his father, who will be spending time quietly at Balmoral on the 8th, perhaps with other members of the family.”

She added: “On the other hand, Harry could also do a quick trip after the awards to Heathrow airport, and jump on a plane back home to California.

“I think this will be the option most people will expect.”

Prince Harry is a lifetime patron for the WellChild charity, and attends the awards annually.

Harry has had tensions with the Royal Family for some time, in particular with his father and brother.

The King, who became monarch last year, is currently hosting his first summer at Balmoral, and is, or so will, welcome some royals to spend the coming weeks at the Scotland-based estate.

Despite being in Europe next month, it is unlikely that Harry will join the family at Balmoral.

After the UK, Prince Harry will be travelling to Dusseldorf in Germany for the start of the Invictus Games

Despite the Games beginning on September 9, Meghan Markle will be joining her husband in Germany on September 11.

It remains uncertain if the couple’s two children, Archie and Lilibet, will be joining them.
