Harry says there is 'huge level of unconscious bias' in the Royal Family

The Duke of Sussex has claimed there is a ‘huge level of unconscious bias’ in the Royal Family.

The third episode of his Netflix series Harry & Meghan references when Princess Michael of Kent wore a Blackamoor-style brooch to an event the Duchess of Sussex attended in 2017.

Harry says: ‘In this family, sometimes you are part of the problem rather than part of the solution. And there is a huge level of unconscious bias.

‘The thing with unconscious bias, it is actually no one’s fault. But once it has been pointed out, or identified within yourself you then need to make it right.

‘It is education. It is awareness. It is a constant work in progress for everybody, including me, you know.’

Harry then spoke about when he wore a Nazi uniform to a private party in 2005.

He said: ‘It was probably one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I felt so ashamed afterwards. All I wanted to do was make it right.’

The duke goes on to describe how he met with the chief rabbi in London and travelled to Berlin to sit down with a Holocaust survivor.

He adds: ‘I could’ve just ignored it and probably made the same mistakes over and over again in my life. But I learned from that.’
