Britain is just months away from engaging in events to mark the Queen’s 70 years on the throne. In June, there will be a Service of Thanksgiving for Her Majesty, as well as a Platinum Party at the Palace and a Platinum Pudding competition. Despite the anticipation, a royal expert has claimed large questions remain over just how engaged Prince Harry, the Queen’s grandson, will be in events.
Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “Questions will continue to be asked about the role Harry might play in the Jubilee celebrations in June.”
He noted particular “fears” over questions of security, noting the implications this could have on the attendance of Harry’s family.
Mr Fitzwilliams said: “[The Duke’s] fears over security make it unlikely that Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will attend.”
Prince Harry, along with his wife, lost his right to UK taxpayer-funded police protection when he stepped back from royal duties and moved to the US in 2020.
The Home Office recently decided he should not be allowed police protection when in the country – a decision the Duke is challenging.
A poll of Express.co.uk readers last month suggested more than half of readers believed he should only have private security.
Only two percent of those polled said the Government should fund Harry’s police protection – that is, with taxpayer money.
A legal representative said the Duke would be happy to fund his police protection, so as “not to impose on the British taxpayer”.

The problem, however, lies with the style of protection.
Prince Harry insists it must be provided by the police, for intelligence reasons.
His representative said: “With the lack of police protection, comes too great a personal risk.”

Mr Fitzwilliams added that Prince Harry will deal a further blow to the royal family later this year when he publishes his memoir.
One friend of the Duke of Sussex suggested the Duchess of Cornwall could come under particular scrutiny in the highly-anticipated book.
On Camilla, Mr Fitzwilliams also said “it was noticed” that neither nor his wife commented publicly on the “dramatic announcement” that she would become Queen Consort rather than Princess Consort when Prince Charles is crowned King – this despite him having spent the week in which the news was announced talking “movingly” about other matters.
The royal expert said: “We must hope that they sent best wishes privately.”
Prince Harry’s friend, meanwhile, told the Mirror the memoir is bound to “shake the monarchy to the core”.
