The Duke and Duchess of Sussex should attend King Charles’ Coronation as it will be in the best interest of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, a public relations expert claimed. Nicole Blake-Baxter suggested by attending the ceremony the Sussex children will “reap” royal benefits and a “fair inheritance”, according to a PR expert.

Blake-Baxter, a PR and marketing expert for The Blake Agency, told Express.co.uk that the Sussex family should attend King Charles’ Coronation.

She said: “Prince Harry and Meghan should attend the Coronation and take the kids with them.

“On one hand, it may seem like Prince Harry has rejected many of the traditions and customs that come with being a member of the Royal Family.

“However, he has made it very clear that he believes the monarchy should continue and has even accepted royal titles for his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

Ms Baxter, who founded PR company The Blake Agency, said the couple’s decision whether to attend would impact their public image.

She said: “From a PR perspective, I believe reconciliation or showing a united front at this point is in the best interest of their children, who are successors to the monarchy.

“Along with the financial benefits and perks of being a British royal, there is also a global publicity value.

“I think Prince Harry–like any caring parent–wants to make sure that his children will reap all those benefits and a fair inheritance.”

But May 6 holds added significance for the Sussex family as it is Archie’s birthday.

Royal Holloway marketing professor Pauline MacLaran told Express.co.uk that the couple risk looking “foolish” if they attend and are “cold-shouldered” by the British public and the other royals.

She said: “Overall, it seems to me that a compromise is best for them and that Harry attends on his own while Meghan uses the excuse of Archie’s birthday.

“This compromise lessens the risk of them being scorned but allows them to top up their royal connections.”

Speculation about whether Harry and Meghan will attend the Coronation ramped up shortly after news broke of their invitation – but the couple are yet to disclose a decision.

Earlier this month, a spokesperson for the couple said: “I can confirm the Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the Coronation.

“An immediate decision on whether the Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

The Coronation will take place at Westminster Abbey, London on May 6.
