Harry faces Coronation ‘humiliation’ with Meghan unable to shield him
Sarah Ferguson says Meghan Markle ‘makes Prince Harry happy’
Prince Harry could face “humiliation” at the King’s Coronation on Saturday as he is “shunted aside”, and Meghan Markle’s absence at the historic ceremony could leave him “exposed to hostile family members”, the Express can exclusively report.
The Duke of Sussex, 38, will jet to London on his own to see his father crowned as King, while his wife Meghan, 41, remains in California with the couple’s two children – Prince Archie, who is celebrating his fourth birthday on the same day, and Princess Lilibet, aged one.
Harry will face his relatives for the first time at the Coronation since taking aim at senior members of the Royal Family in both the couple’s Netflix docu-series and his bombshell memoir Spare.
And without Meghan’s support, Mairead Molloy, a relationship psychologist and global director at Berkeley International, believes it could leave the Duke “exposed to hostile family members”, while he may also feel “shunted aside” by other royals at the historic ceremony.
Speaking exclusively to the Express, Ms Molloy said: “This is very interesting and is twofold. There will be a humiliation factor here for Harry.”
Ms Molloy continued: “Watching the other royals share the stage with the King and Queen while he is probably going to be shunted aside – this will likely be painful and incredibly frustrating for Harry.”
Royal experts and commentators have speculated in recent weeks as to what role the King’s youngest son will play in the Coronation ceremony.
Some anticipate the Duke will play a role in the processions to and from Westminster Abbey, taking a similar position to that demonstrated in the late Queen’s State Funeral in September, where Harry walked alongside his brother, Prince William, behind the late Queen’s four children – King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
However, many others suspect Harry will be “treated like a guest” and play no part in the ceremony at all, feeding into the “humiliation factor” he may face.

POLL: Should Prince Harry extend his UK visit over Coronation?[POLL]
As Meghan skips the Coronation to remain at home at the couple’s mansion in Montecito, California, to celebrate her son Prince Archie turning four in a “low-key” and “intimate” birthday party, Harry could be left “exposed” to royal hostilities across the pond.
Ms Molloy said: “Without the support of Meghan, Harry risks being left exposed to hostile family members which may prove difficult. He will be made to sit rows behind – this may have that feeling of demotion for him.
“He will not be the only outcast at the Coronation though, as Andrew, will also be in attendance.”
Prince Andrew is expected to attend the Coronation with his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, but as they are not working royals, they are not expected to appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the ceremony.
According to royal expert Omid Scobie, Beatrice and Eugenie are likely to help Harry feel at ease at the Coronation, and the Duke has had a close relationship with his two cousins over the years.
And while Prince Harry will find the ceremony “painful” and “frustrating”, Ms Molloy anticipates that it might be the perfect occasion to form some new bonds with his family.
She said: “There is every chance that Harry might welcome the time to himself and have a chance to breathe, take a step back and maybe form some new bonds with his family. They may be a royal family, but they are still a family like any of ours.”
She added: “The best thing you can do for a family member who is difficult to handle is to gently push them toward the changes they need to make whilst being patient and offering unconditional support. Don’t nag them or criticise constantly – allow them to evolve at their own pace.”
The Duke is expected to jet back to California just hours after the Coronation ceremony to belatedly celebrate his son’s birthday. He will reportedly skip the post-Coronation lunch and the concert at Windsor Castle on May 7.
