Prince Harry has been warned a new accusation against the Royal Family could jeopardise his relationship with Prince William in the long-term. The Duke of Sussex this week claimed he was “conditioned” by the Firm not to complain about his treatment from tabloids. His remarks were made during a High Court case against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), the publisher of the Daily Mail.

A source claimed his latest accusation threatens to create a bigger rift with William.

They friend of King Charles said William “is over it at this stage”.

They told The Daily Beast: “If this was about his vendetta with the Mail that would be one thing.

“But Harry keeps doing everything in his power to try and embarrass the family. How can you have a relationship with someone who is doing that?”

Harry travelled to the UK this week to attend a hearing against ANL, which continues to deny allegations of unlawful or illegal information gathering.

William and Harry have had a somewhat frosty relationship since before the Duke of Sussex stepped down from his official duties in March 2020.

Harry himself confirmed they were on “different paths” in an interview with ITV during his and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex’s tour of South Africa the year before.

The brothers have spent limited time together since what has come to be known as Megxit.

Harry was unable to return to the UK from his new home in California for months due to travel restrictions at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

He returned for the first time in April 2021 to attend the funeral of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Following the service, he was seen walking side-by-side with the now Prince and Princess of Wales, and later talking alone with William.

The Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales were reunited once more in the summer of 2021 to unveil a statue in honour of their late mother Diana, Princess of Wales at Kensington Palace.

Harry once again reunited with the entire Royal Family at the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last June.

While relations appeared to have thawed following the death of the late Queen, after which the brothers put up a united front and thanked mourners for their support during an outing in Windsor, Harry later took a pop at William in his memoir Spare.

In the book, Harry sensationally claimed he had been made aware of his status of royal spare from an early age and quipped he had been born to provide his older brother with parts in the event of illness or accidents.

He wrote: “Two years older than me, Willy was the Heir, whereas I was the Spare.

“I was the shadow, the support, the Plan B. I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy.”

He added: “Kidney, perhaps. Blood transfusion. Speck of bone marrow.”
